Charmaine Silverstein

In Loving Memory

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Charmaine “Charm” Silverstein, a cherished sister, devoted mother, proud grandmother, aunt and treasured great aunt. She departed this world on November 11, 2025, at the age of 77.

Born June 22, 1948, in Chicago, IL, Charmaine lived a life defined by resilience, kindness, stubbornness, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Charmaine was also a lover of cats. As a sister, she was a confidante and lifelong friend, always ready with a listening ear and her opinionated wisdom. As a single mother, she cared for her two sons, providing as much as she could for them with unconditional love, instilling in them the values of hard work, strength, and integrity. As a grandmother, she delighted in sharing stories, laughter, and Sunday dinners, creating memories that will live on in the heart of her granddaughter who she loved dearly. As a great aunt, she was a babysitter/caretaker for her two great nephews for the first 5 years of their lives, Anthony and Mikey, who she loved as if they were her own.

Charmaine is survived by her children, both biological and chosen, Steve and Adam Silverstein, and Sue Kelly, her grandchildren, both biological and chosen, Stephanie Silverstein, Jessica Kelly, Alexis and Ben Esmaili, her sister Antoinette McKinney, and many nieces, nephews, great nephews, and great nieces, who will carry forward her spirit of love, sassiness, and kindness. She is preceded in death by her brothers Milton Bowers, Jimmy Golder, and Arthur Golder.

Although Charmaine is gone, she will live in our hearts forever.

At the request of Charmaine there will be no formal funeral or service.

In lieu of flowers please donate to your local animal shelter in her name.
