Gerald “Gerry” Francis Tichelbaut of Niles, IL, 74, died peacefully at home on December 27th, 2022 surrounded by family and friends; devoted and loving husband of Mary nee Drislane for 14 years. Born in Lake Forest, IL. Served his country as a USMC Private First Class during Vietnam War with Honorable Discharge.

Loving father of Gerry (Kela), Jason, Charlie (Kathy), Eric, Angela (Tim) Arvesen; bonus father of Erin (Andy) Sanders, Lindsey (Angel) Camacho; loving grandfather/“Papa” to Carah, Erik, Colin, Sofia, David, Olivia and Ava;

Cherished son of the late Magdaline nee DePauw and Maurice; brother of the late Yvonne McCloskey, Kenneth (Barb) Tichelbaut, Phyllis “Tish” (Bill) Olsen; brother-in-law to Darlene Drislane; uncle to many nieces and nephews; good friend to so many;

Gerry was a life-long die-hard Chicago Bears & Chicago White Sox fan – hence his nickname “Sox Pops”- He spent many days at White Sox games. Gerry was an Eagle Scout. He worked 18 years at AT&T in Rosemont then Des Plaines where he retired from in September 2017.

  1. Mary and family, Jan and I want to express our heartfelt sympathy. Losing a loved one is so very difficult. Hold on tightly to all the memories of the special times you two had.     1. Gerry, Jason, Charlie, Eric, Angela, Olivia & Ava, Your Dad (Papa) was a fun loving dude that lived life to the fullest. He and Uncle Sam were very bad influences on each other. They had too much fun together. We have fond memories of your Dad. Your Dad loved all of you with all of his heart. He will be missed. May your fond memories bring you peace. We love all of you.
