  1. My sincere sympathies to Stella’s family. Stella lived at Westminster Place for several years. Prior to the pandemic, I enjoyed having lunch with her and also meeting with her at other times, listening to her tales about teaching in foreign countries, among other things. Most recently, she joined a group that I was included in on Saturday mornings, and she would look up information on the internet about movies that were being shown here each night and give her opinion about each one. She had a great wit and was extremely bright. Her sudden death was a shock; her fellow Westminster Place residents knew she was in the hospital but were never able to reach her there, something they regret.

  2. Many of us at Westminster Place in Evanston will miss Stella. She participated in community activities despite her physical challenges and we enjoyed her very pleasant company. My condolences to her family and may her soul rest In peace.

  3. As a friend and teaching colleague of Stella’s, I am saddened to hesr of her death. We taught at Washington School and were on the Credit Union Board for many years. We met for our retirees’ lunches almost every 2 weeks since our retirements. Stella was always engaged in our conversations and had much to contribute to them. She was so good at taking care of her sister and advocating for her. She researched independent living and chose Westminister for all the activities it offered. Stella participated in many of them and proudly showed us around the first time we had lunch with her. I am dismayed that none of her Lyons teacher friends were informed of her death. It was months before I got to a person who told me she had passed away. Trying to zoom the service months later doesn’t work…just some still shots are seen but no video or sound. Stella had a great number of friends who feel her loss. Stella will be greatly missed. RIP, my friend.
