  2. Learned of Dan’s passing from the Emerald Society of Illinois, which I have been a member since Dan was president in the 70’s. Dan started a great organization then, and it continues today. Condolences to his family for their loss. May he Rest In Peace.

  3. Mr. Burke contributed to the greater good and that is noble. God Bless. My condolences to the Burke family.

  4. May you rest sir in a well deserved peace and thank you for serving and my condolences go out to the Burke Family.

  5. Unfortunately I was unable to pay my respects in person. Watching the streaming video was comforting to see how many people cared for Dan and the Burke family. Dan and I were partners in the School Patrol Unit. He made me laugh very hard every day, and we enjoyed talking about our love of our Irish heritage. I admired his great pride for his family and his undying love for his wife. There are many stories I would love to share, so when the time is right I hope I can. Ar dheas Dé go raibh a h’anam dílis.

  6. To all of the loved ones of Dan, My sincerest condolences – Remember well when Tom Cody, Si O’Donnell, Pat McNulty and Dan came to my office to assist in starting the formation of the Emerald Society Band after the murders of Chicago PD Officers Fahey and O’Brien. The band is now one of renown that does every police officer proud and brings honor, at grieving times, to the Family’s of the fallen. The Emerald Society and Band his legacy It was a pleasure to be of acquaintance. May his soul rest in peace with us having a belief in a life after death where dear ones meet again – for that alone gives consolation

  7. I worked with Uncle Dan as he was referred to at CPD School Patrol. He would tell us about the swimming pool as his bird bath cause that’s who went in it the most. He was a true gentleman. Always quick with a story and laugh. God bless brother and May you Rest In Peace.

  8. Deepest condolences to Aunt Cathy, Danny, Brian, Sarah, Meghan & Brendan. The service was beautiful, such a shame we couldn’t be there with you to celebrate Uncle Dan’s life. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
