Colette Mary Begley (nee Wall), RN, of Chicago, age 97, passed away peacefully on April 19th surrounded by her family. Colette was the beloved wife of over 58 years to James J. (retired CPD); loving and devoted mother of Mary (Giuseppe) Saso and Sheila Begley; cherished grandmother of Megan and Caitlin; fond aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Mary Shaughnessy (late Donald) and her brother, James Wall (late Rita). Dear cousin and friend to many. Colette was preceded in death by her parents, James and Irene (Conlisk) Wall and her sister Regina Arndt (late Raymond). Colette was a dedicated registered nurse and worked into her early eighties as an RN in hospitals, on the B&O Railroad, in factories, and doctor’s offices. She joined the United States Cadet Nurse Corps upon graduating high school, prior to the end of World War II, to serve our country. Colette’s love of nursing inspired her granddaughters to follow her into this profession. The Begley family would like to thank Colette’s devoted and beloved caregivers, Mona and Carm, who lovingly cared for her over the last 3 years.
