It is with great sadness that we mourn the unexpected passing of Ronny Carlson on October 13th, 2026 at the age of 67 years. Ronny passed away at his home in Humboldt Park in Chicago, Illinois.
Ronny was raised in Jönköping, Sweden in 1959 before moving to the United States to study at Drury University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He worked in advertising and raised his two daughters, Fiona and Ingrid, with his late wife, Kathleen Lyons, who passed away in March of 2026.
Ronny was an eccentric man who valued creative expression and thought. He enjoyed biking, attending art exhibitions, taking motorcycle trips across the country, and making sculptural and two-dimensional artworks. Ronny and Kathleen were known for hosting annual Swedish meatball parties to celebrate the holidays with their friends.
He will be remembered by his two daughters, Fiona Lyons-Carlson and Ingrid Lyons-Carlson; his siblings, Raul Carlson, Katherine Hampel Eriksson, and Roland Carlson; and many family members and friends across the world.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with remembrances starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Gibbons Family Funeral Home at 5917 W Irving Park Rd in Chicago, IL.
