Caitlin Jacobs

-

Caitlin Elizabeth Cagney Jacobs, 31, died peacefully at 10:40 PM, March 30, 2022, surrounded by her adoring family.

Michael Jacobs, her father, will never find a better audience for his jokes. She is probably still giggling at the beep and wave that got her every time. Her mother, Mary Cagney Jacobs will miss taking her broke best friend to breakfast and seeing limited release movies with two other people in the room.

She was the best big sissy to her babies, Emma, Eddie, and Tommy who was also her Godson. She is the former wife and dear friend of Christopher Meehan, originally from Ireland. Isla Rummelhoff was her beloved Goddaughter. Because cancer sucks, she passed without wrinkles that she feared, but she was preceded in death only by her grandfather, Thomas Jacobs.

Her Nana, Charlene Burzawa Simioni Cagney, was her stalwart champion and her most amazing secret keeper. Who will she cook for now? Her grandpa, Edward (Barbara) Cagney III, will miss hiding out with her at family parties, laughing about nonsense. She is also survived by her loving grandma, Theresa (Campbell) Jacobs.

Her innumerable aunts and uncles will miss her wit. Her Godmother, Margaret (Simioni) Lucas will miss looking up at her towering niece. Her Godfather, Mark Jacobs, won’t have to pick up her special snacks anymore.

Caitlin may have been an only child for the first twelve years of her life, but her Auntie Deanna picked her up from school everyday and brought her to play and swim with all those Rummelhoffs. On both sides of her family, she was surrounded by dozens of cousins who helped toughen up our buttercup. Those cousins made her an auntie of dozens. Amanda (Rummelhoff) Britton loses her cousin and first friend. She was best friends with Logan Rummelhoff who drew her the best pictures you could ever imagine.

When she entered Trinity, she met her BFF, Kelly Grusecki, who got the extra sister and LG travel mate she didn’t even know she needed. The many friends she made at St. Ambrose University gave her a profound love of country music. Many moons ago, Caitlin started walking Colleen Koepke to school, and over the past year, Colleen became her TV buddy, doctor escort, and foot massager. Megan (Norton) Rummelhoff made sure her manicures over the last year were of the highest quality. Caitlin loved her nails, hair, and brows to be on point!

Ms. Jacobs was a preschool teacher at St. Ferdinand School, a kindergarten, special education, and 8th grade teacher at Acero Rogers Park, and a special education teacher at Warren Park Elementary School in Cicero.

In lieu of flowers, please do what our Booger would do: treat yourself! Then, order shots and put them on her Dad’s tab. Slainte!

The wake will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Gibbons Family Funeral Home, 5917 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60634 from 3:00 – 9:00 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Pascal Church, 3935 N Melvina Ave, Chicago, IL 60634.

  8. We’ve always thought of Caitlin as our “3rd daughter”. When she and Nicki and Ashley got together I never knew what goofiness they would create. She wasn’t with us long, but her imprint will last forever. RIP in love and light.
