George Winograd, age 79, was the beloved husband of 55 years to Grace Winograd (née Sari); devoted father of Michael (Josette) and Cindy (Michael); and cherished grandfather of Gina, Gehrig, and Anthony.
George was the loving son of the late Michel and Stella Winograd. He was preceded in death by his siblings Richard, Joseph, and Anna. He was a dear brother-in-law to Anthony, Nancy, Kim, Dave, Jeff, Peter, and Nita, and was preceded in death by Lou and Marianne. He was also a treasured uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Born abroad, George immigrated to the United States at the age of 10 and embraced the opportunities of his new home with gratitude and determination. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism.
George met the love of his life, Grace, and together they built a beautiful marriage and family that remained the center of his world. He was known for his remarkable intellect, endless curiosity, and ability to share the most interesting and unique facts on just about any subject. A gifted problem solver, he never met a math problem he could not solve.
Above all, George was devoted to his family. His grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy, and he beamed with pride at their accomplishments. Whether offering advice, lending a helping hand, or simply being present when needed, George could always be counted on without hesitation. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, with a Memorial Mass starting at 1:00 PM
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in George’s honor.
George’s legacy of love, service, generosity, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

My kindergarten forever friend Grace, dearest Michael and Cindy and families,
Words cannot express our sadness in the loss of dear George. His warm smile, sparkling eyes and clever comments brightened our many fun times together for over 50 years. His passing brings to mind a quote “Death is not extinguishing the light, but turning down the lamp because the dawn has come.” We will miss you, our friend, until we meet again! Rest in the peace of the Lord!
