Rosemary Anne Hoffman, 77, of Waukegan formerly of Chicago’s Portage Park neighborhood, died peacefully at home on Saturday; beloved wife of over 50 years to Walter Belback, Jr; loving mother of Sarah (Christopher), Claire (Brent) and Veronica (Zachary); cherished grandmother of Celeste, Brent, Jr., Virginia, Eleanor and Harold; and she adored her five fur grandbabies; preceded in death by her parents, George and Rose, her brother Georgie and her grandchildren Michael & William; loved reading, doing crosswords, puzzles, crocheting, gardening and teaching; Visitation Wednesday 3-8 and Thursday 10 AM until time of service 12 PM at Gibbons Family Funeral Home 5917 W. From the moment she called out my name (perfectly pronounced) in Folk Dancing Class at Rosary, until our most recent (and final) telephone chat, a few weeks ago, our lives have been delightfully entwined. It got more intense, and stayed that way, once she and Walt moved their girls to Waukegan. She never said “No.” when ever I needed help, or just wanted company. I tried, when I could, to reciprocate. Countless memories: shared interactions, back yard picnics, New Year’s Eve celebrations and carpooling to college reunions- they all flood back! Rosemary Anne (with an “e.”), until we meet again – may you rest in True Peace.
